The sound of a coin thumping lightly into Elywen's hat, though creating a sound barely audible, rung loud in the female's ears. It was the sound of bells ringing loud and true to the path to heaven. It was the sound of a dinner bell calling her to a delectable dinner. Elywen's hand flew off of her instrument and dove into her hat. It almost seemed as if Elywen would have leapt into the cap itself if it weren't so small. Her fingers wrapped around the coin and she lifted it from the cap with all the grandeur of lifting a sack of gold from a bank. Her aquatic eyes shimmered, her own mind drowning in rapture.

"Miss, I heard your song, and it...was very um, good, heheh."

Elywen turned her eyes from the coin and to the man who stood before her. He wasn't dressed any differently than her, clothes only of the poorest quality of cotton, stitched in haste and tossed on the market place where its price was the lowest in the history of the market. His remarkable red hair caught her curious eyes the most. Though it was common to have hair of all colors in a market place like this one, she had always thought it strange to bear hair like flames upon one's head.

"Could you...continue to play?"

His words spread a grin across her face again, her face flushing with surprise. "You actually think my music is good?!?!" She caught herself, lightly bopping her head, as if punishing herself for something she did. She continued again, except with a voice carrying a sense of arrogance. "Well, heh... Of course you do!" Her grin turned to a smug smirk and she patted her chest. "I am a skilled bard after all!" She paused and muttered quietly to herself, "Though... I can't really sing... So I guess I'm more of a musician..."

The sound of more coins dropping into her hat caused a flood of happiness to surge into her system. Wow... I can't believe how popular I am today!!! She clapped her hands in joy, turning her eyes to the donor.

"How about this? I'll pay you to stop. And maybe you can use it to buy a better sounding instrument."

The flood of happiness was instantly halted, crushed by a coming torrent of anger. Her eyes flared upon this boy, this twig for a boy. Her fist wrapped around her jade hat, the coins inside scratching against each other, and she rose sharply to her feet. Her other hand held her instrument lightly. The insult had struck her hard, stirring a storm within her. "What did you say, boy?!?!"
